Terms and Conditions: Public Screening “Peripheral Territories”, Dec. 20, 2024, Cinéma Spoutnik, Geneva

On December 20 at 8 p.m. at the Cinéma Spoutnik in Geneva, a collective (Katherine Bautista, Mariam Janashia, Carmen-Sibha Keiso, Barnabé Masson,  Anna Tretyakova) of the Visual Arts Department of HEAD Genève of HES-SO, University of Art and Design in Geneva, will present “Peripheral Territories,” a selection of 11 video and audio works by students from Swiss and non-Swiss universities.

This public program stems from the transversal seminar “Rehearsing the (extra-) jurisdiction of images” at HEAD (Professor: Doreen Mende), with interventions by the lawyers Rachit Lakhmani from Kolkata and Laïla Batou from Geneva, which took place in exchange with our research project “Terms and Conditions.”

The imagined framework for these films’endeavours scrutinize the self-revelatory laws and structures of image-liability, creating a chain of peripheral views that span across multiple camera-subject-territories. With works by Léa Gravina, Mariam Janashia, Eva Valenzuela, Ayomide Tejuoso, Carmen-Sibha Keiso, Linn Nora Henz, Thomas Roget, Barnabé Masson, Anna Tretyakova, Herman Hjorth Berge, and David Bucheli.
