CALL TO THE COMMUNITY – WE WANT YOUR VIDEO

for the screening program (X)-trACTION on July 29, 2022 at the Arsenal in Berlin.
Presented by the Harun Farocki Institut with US-American filmmaker Cathy Lee Crane on the occasion of her Harun Farocki Residency in Berlin.

(X)-trACTION is a collection of six poetic documentaries that explore the problem of extraction as it pertains to both environmental mining and the aesthetic mining some documentary projects engage in with regards to their subjects, we are interested in inviting voices from a diverse array of communities in Berlin to provide a visual seam to the evening’s program. This visual seam will function as a means of providing immediacy and provoking a local in-person conversation, perhaps, in the process, building a bigger story of regional extraction of resources, including those of peoples and lands.

LETTERS FROM Berlin: Show us sites of Plunder or Refuge.

We want your 20-60 second videos. Consider capturing that which hasn’t been seen (or sold). A place from your daily life. Inhabit it. How are you in this space? What is your place? Show us the brilliantly mundane, the every-day overlooked, that which is not in an advertisement: where you work, hike, shop, drive, climb or escape to. What spaces do you inhabit (indoor, outdoor landscapes).

We are seeking to include some of your contributions at the screening night (X)-trAction planned at Arsenal Cinema on July 29th.
